Had a dream that I joined some military force or something of the sort.. very, very disciplined background. Since it was a girls only sort of force (beginner status) if you made a mistake or two you were corrected.
One of our first tasks was to march in perfect formation for a mile. At the end of the mile, we were in the perfect formation, but we got stopped mid-march and some people were on the wrong foot. The officers had been clear if we messed up we would have to run for 20 minutes, but since it was only the wrong foot, it was for 10 minutes. It wasn’t regular running though, we had to run with these type of shoes… they were like heels, but instead of actual shoe material it was made with needles. So every step you took the needles punctured the soles of your feet. It was made so it wouldn’t go in too far, but it could draw blood if you pressed too hard.
Also, we didn’t run on flat ground, we ran on this automated running machine.. imagine a boxing ring as a circle.. then replace the floor with a conveyor belt so it would be a moving floor. Add that the circle is like an upside down cone where the middle is the top of this. We’re running on this falling slope shit. If you didn’t run fast enough you’d fall to the middle where you were destined for more punishment.
I remembered sighing and getting on the belt first to run.. the officers and the other girls were trying to stop me since all the girls weren’t here yet.. the “conveyor belt” thing was big enough to hold our division who messed up marching.. but I said it was okay, they could watch me tackle my 20 minutes by myself because I wanted to get it over with.
I performed pretty well on the thing.. with those needles digging into the bottom of my feet, I tried just keep my feet moving and my pressure light but I started sinking to the bottom… as people were watching me starting to fall, I pushed myself and put more pressure even with my feet torturing me. The conveyor belt was a pretty decent pace so I kept up with it well… but as the officers noticed it wasn’t that much of a challenge for me, they sped it up.
I kept up with all the changes they made for me. Felt the tempo and just kept rolling with it. My feet were no longer hurting because they were beyond numb. I’m pretty sure my punishment lasted longer than the 10 minutes they were supposed to. As soon as I finished, the captains and officers seemed pretty impressed, and the rest of my division seemed determined to handle the punishment after watching me endure it with no tears.
The impression I made to everyone else was satisfying.. but I felt more proud of myself even more.
